Welcome.

I’m KJ Song (they/them).

Queer music minister,
Voice ritualist
and Reverend in formation.

I hold space for people to remember what they’ve been told to forget: that their voice is holy. Not because it “sounds pretty”, but because it’s true, and alive, and fully theirs.

I am the founder of Sing Praise!, a Gospel-inspired, queer revival for those who long for praise & worship without exile. At Sing Praise, our songs are prayers and everyone belongs.

Through 1:1 voice sessions, ritual gatherings, and communal song, I’m here to make space for the parts of us that have been silenced and to help them sing their way free.

The Backstory

For the past 12 years, I’ve been in private practice helping people find and free their voices. My first clients called me The Voice Doula—and the name stuck.

I came up in the rural South in musical theater and Gospel choirs, learning how to make a sound big enough to carry spirit and story at once. That foundation led me to pursue a self-tailored degree in the Psychology of Performance, along with extensive study in Expressive Arts Therapy.

I’ve facilitated song in the Peruvian jungle, high in the Swiss Alps, across sub-Saharan Africa, and here on my home ground—unceded Cherokee and Nisenan territories. I’ve recorded nine albums and supported hundreds of folks in reclaiming their voices as a source of power, prayer, and presence.

These days, I’m also a candidate for my Master of Divinity—called to serve as a queer pastor and song-priest in spaces where the erotic and the sacred are not at odds. My ministry is woven into everything I do: in one-on-one sessions and in community song rituals like Sing Praise!
